On visiting London
As you might guess from the title, this week I've been back to London – precisely a year after our move to the North, so this week's newlsetter is the shorter "travel" edition (no time to scroll the Internet when I am on my feet).
It was nice to be back to England and catch up with so many friends – when we were moving out of London, leaving those close to our heart behind was the biggest concern. At least we're still on the same island, and trains are more reliable than ever unless there are southern strikes.
Food in the capital is as good as I remember: the best meat was as always had at our friends' but we've also returned back to Chishuru, a West African restaurant that I thoroughly enjoyed two years ago, when it was a tiny place at a Brixton market, not the most sought-after destination, and now has two floors in Soho, a well-deserved growth. The dishes are hard to describe as usual, as I struggle with their names, spices used, and ingredients sourced. My favourite was the humble jollof rice.
