On Loch Leven

Wikipedia states that there are more than 30000 freshwater lochs (lakes) in Scotland, even though most of them are small (we call them lochans). Previously we've been to a few of the largest ones, but this weekend we visited a small but notable lake with a castle on a tiny island in the middle.

The castle is famous because Mary Queen of Scots was once a guest there, but then turned prisoner and eventually managed to escape.
