Despite having the word "engineer" in my bachelor degree, I never did much "engineering" in its common sense, and skipped the majority of my physics lessons throughout school due to various computer science competitions.

I did have some soldering practice though, and thoroughly enjoyed setting up some of the gadgets where basic understanding of engineering is required, whether it's building a 3D printer or wiring an RPI to water plants.

I never did anything on a larger scale though, that is, until I got tired of looking at a 20 year old SatNav in my car:
